Important Notice to all Competitors
The safety of a Boat, Sailboard, Wing board or Kite board and her entire management, including insurance, shall be the sole responsibility of the Owner/Competitor racing or using the Boat, Sail, Wing or Kite board for any purpose. The issue of sailing instructions, or any other directives, either verbal, written, or implied in no way limits or reduces the complete responsibility of the Owner/Competitor for their crew and the management thereof. The Event Organisers, the Host Club, or any Class Association will not be liable for any loss, damage, death or personal injury howsoever caused to the Owner/Competitor or any of their crew as a result of their taking part in the trials, or races. Moreover every Owner/Competitor warrants the suitability of his/her Boat, Sail, Wing or Kite board for the trials, race or races. All Boats, Sail, Wing or Kite boards shall be insured against Third Party Liability for a minimum of £3,000,000. This is a condition of entry to Weymouth Speed Week.
You should be medically fit and capable of performing activities that may be physically demanding, such as moving around a boat and swimming. You must also be able to understand and follow safety instructions and are asked to disclose any medical conditions that could affect your safety, or the safety of others, to the event organisers in advance using the form provided.
All competitors should attend the morning briefing and must, before going on the course, ensure that they have received the Course Director's briefing and are aware of any sailing and safety instructions pertinent to that day.

Entry to the Event
Craft
Competitors may compete with any wind-powered sailing craft.
Payment
For practical and safety reasons we have to limit the total number of competitors. The event will be oversubscribed. Entry is not secured until the appropriate fee has been paid. Please make your payment no later than three weeks before the event, any entries for which payment has not been received will be allocated to people on the waiting list.
Youths
Weymouth Speed Week encourages the participation of young people wishing to become involved in speed sailing. We run a two day "Youth Competition" over the first weekend with prize giving early on the Sunday evening for those less than 18 years old for both days of the event. But please be aware that the parent or guardian will need to be responsible for their supervision. Youths have their runs from the weekend included in the week long competition, potentially they can receive overall Weymouth Speed Week prizes in addition.
Gender
Weymouth Speed Week’s transgender and non-binary competition policy has inclusion and fairness at its very heart. In order for the event to be enjoyed by all, there must be inclusive opportunities for transgender participants to compete. However, it is widely recognised that fairness of competition must be protected and Weymouth Speed Week believes the creation of open and female categories is the best way to achieve this.
These categories are designated as:
- Female – participants with a birth sex of female
- Open – participants with a birth sex of male, trans or non-binary and any participant not eligible for the female category
Entry Options
- Adult for the full week
- Youth at the weekend only
- Youth all week (if OK with parents and school) including entry to the weekend Youth Competition
- Weekdays only
As the event fills very quickly we operate a wait list. People on this get first priority for any places that may become available.
What is included in the fees
The fees include the use of the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy including all launching and mooring fees due to the Portland Port Authority. There is a Saturday night welcome meal at the WPNSA for all competitors and an event T Shirt. The event organisers provide the timing and results processing, the course equipment and support boats.
Prizes
Weymouth Speed Week and the Amateur Yacht Research Society award "fastest of the day" tankards for four categories - Sailboard, Kiteboard, Wingboard and Boat. All competitors are eligible for these regardless of age.
With the exception of the Youth weekend. Weymouth Speed Week is a week long competition. Prizes are provided by our generous sponsors. Please support them.
Personal Data
Please be assured that any information provided to the organisers of Weymouth Speed Week will only be used by the organisers for the purpose of running Weymouth Speed Week; it will never be made available to other parties and will be handled and processed at all times in accordance with the relevant legislation.
Refund Policy
If you find that circumstances prevent you from attending Weymouth Speed Week we will refund your entry fee in full if requested more than three weeks before the start of the event. Beyond this date we reserve the right to charge 50% of the fee. Once Speed Week has started refunds are not available.
Proof of Entry to Weymouth Speed Week
Entry to Weymouth Speed Week occurs only when the requested information is supplied via this web site and payment has been received. We will update the Entrants list to confirm your payment. Please note that payments to the WSW bank account may take a few days to clear and for us to be informed - so expect there to be a few days delay between your payment and us confirming that it has been received.
The event is run by volunteers and is non-profit-making.
